CBS and Criminal Minds have mostly cornered the serial killer-hunting TV show market, but Netflix is about to give them a little competition with Mindhunter. The drama comes from David Fincher and Charlize Theron, and is an adaptation of one of the most important serial killer-related texts, Mind Hunter: Inside The FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit. Set in 1979, Holt McCallany stars as FBI Agent Bill Tench, a member of the behavioral science unit. He teams up with Jonathan Groff’s Holden Ford to interview imprisoned serial killers to solve recent murders. The first teaser features a rush of images and an ever-changing inkblot, which will screw with your head a bit. Mindhunter also stars Anna Torv, and is written by Joe Penhall and Scott Buck.
Netflix will set Mindhunter loose in October.
