Foo Fighters score their first No. 1 album in a dozen different countries
Although the sales of Cake’s Showroom Of Compassion recently set the bar incredibly low for sales figures needed to dominate today’s charts, Foo Fighters’ Wasting Light has debuted at the top with a much more respectable 235,000 copies sold in the U.S., making the band’s seventh album its first to hit No. 1. Wasting Light took that honor in a dozen countries overall, ending Adele’s 11-week run in the UK, and besting all other comers in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Singapore. The news should come especially hard for Norway’s second-place finisher, Åge Aleksandersen og Sambandet, so by way of consolation, here’s their video for “Janne Ahonens Smil.”
