Francis Ford Coppola’s 2024 box-office flop Megalopolis will get another chance at making an impact when it returns to theaters for a limited engagement, with new features, Deadline reports. “Megalopolis is back in its rightful place, theaters, and the interest in seeing it as was intended is growing,” Coppola said in a statement to Deadline. “I am excited to take part in an interactive Q&A across multiple theaters simultaneously.” The director is right—you won’t find the movie on Netflix, Prime Video, or other online platforms because Coppola firmly opposes streaming. For the film’s return to theaters, Reading International Inc. will screen it simultaneously at cinemas across the US, including New York and Hawaii, on October 24. And—in a shock to those frustrated by the lack of etiquette that’s pervaded movie theaters lately—Coppola is actually encouraging audiences to text him questions before, during, and after the movie. He’ll then select his favorites to answer during a post-screening livestreamed Q&A moderated by Roman Coppola, his son and Megalopolis crew member. Audience members will also score letters from Coppola containing his official director’s statement about the film.
