Geoff Johns to write Stargirl series for DC Universe streaming service
Just a little over a month after Geoff Johns stepped down as the chief creative officer of DC Entertainment in order take on “some sort of writing and producing deal,” we have the first new fruits of that vaguely defined new gig. As reported by Deadline, Johns is now set to write and produce a Stargirl series for the cuss-filled DC Universe streaming service, based on the DC Comics character of the same name that Johns created back in 1999. Stargirl, whose real name is Courtney Whitmore, has long been associated with classic super-team The Justice Society Of America, and the current plan for the Stargirl show is that she’ll be a high school student who has to juggle her normal teenage responsibilities with working alongside the JSA “to fight villains, past and present” (whatever that means).
