In a bid to back up the “700 original series and movies” figure it threw out earlier this week, Netflix has announced a weekly talk show with Hasan Minhaj.
The Daily Show correspondent’s partnership with the streaming company began with a stand-up special, the transcendent Homecoming King, but this new series is a tall order at 32 episodes. Minhaj will executive produce the show along with co-creator Prashanth Venkataramanujam. The as-yet-untitled talk show will see the one-time White House Correspondents Dinner host “explore the modern cultural and political landscape with depth and sincerity,” presumably in the same fashion as he has during his Comedy Central tenure. Each episode will feature the host using his “unique comedic voice and storytelling skill to investigate the larger trends shaping our fragmented world.” There’s currently no word on future guests or a release date yet.
