Help make an Inspector Spacetime web series, Community fan who doesn't know what else to do with yourself
Short of complaining every time there is news related to Community that doesn’t announce an official return date, or relentlessly using #sixseasonsandamovie hashtags on everything you tweet, there’s little that you, the Internet people, can do to play a part in determining the show’s still-hazy future. But you can play a crucial role in determining the future of its show within a show: Travis Richey, star of the Doctor Who-parodying Inspector Spacetime, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a six-episode Inspector Spacetime web series, which would flesh out the fleetingly glimpsed fake show that, actually, has already been pretty impressively fleshed out by obsessive Community fans who, obviously, have a lot of time to kill.
Richey did some of that himself over the weekend while making a panel appearance at the Gallifrey One Doctor Who convention, where he unveiled a slideshow tribute to the many actors who have played the Inspector over the decades—a lineage that includes Christopher Lee, Stephen Fry, and Steve Carell. He then led a dramatic reading of the first proposed webisode, where the Inspector and Constable Reggie visit “Second New Earth Old 7” to vanquish the Blorgons with their “Optic Pocketknife” before running into the Inspector’s arch-nemesis, Boyish the Extraordinary. And anyone who wants to see that for themselves—or know what happens next—will just have to pony up.
