Helsinki celebrates its first Nicki Minaj concert with 1,000 cardboard cutouts
America is the most important place in the world, so it’s not a big deal when famous musical artists perform here. It’s not that we don’t like it when people pay attention to us, it’s just that we’re so deserving of being catered to that we hardly even notice when it happens. Also, we’re all spoiled assholes.
That’s why it’s so refreshing to see Helsinki roll out the proverbial red carpet for Nicki Minaj. She’s never performed in Finland before, but that’s going to change next month when she headlines the Summer Up festival. As reported by Mashable, the people of Helsinki are so pumped about this that someone promoting the festival covered the steps of the Helsinki Cathedral in 1,000 Nicki Minaj cardboard cutouts. Not only that, but there were festival passes attached to each Nicki Minaj.
It’s certainly an impressive sight, and it’s definitely the sort of thing that someone would’ve gotten in trouble for in America. Not because we don’t like cardboard cutouts lined up outside of our cathedrals, we’re just too jaded. Nicki Minaj is here all the time, so it doesn’t feel special anymore. Basically, we’re saying we want to move to Finland and experience Nicki Minaj through their eyes.
