Here are the correspondents for The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore
The newly immortal Stephen Colbert rode into the sunset with Santa and Alex Trebek less then a month ago, so any news about his successor’s show might still be a little hard to take for the most dedicated members of The Colbert Nation. We want those people to feel free to back out of this story right away, but, before they go, they should be aware that time is constantly moving forward and every person they’ve ever loved will someday die and/or move to CBS. Anyway, The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore (née The Minority Report) will be premiering later this month, and Comedy Central has just revealed the first correspondents that will be joining Wilmore on his new Daily Show spinoff.
According to Entertainment Weekly, they’re Shenaz Treasury, Ricky Velez, and Mike Yard. Treasury is a Bollywood actress who wrote and hosted The Travel Channel’s Culture Shock, in addition to starring in movies like Ishq Vishik and Delhi Belly that cultured American audiences are certainly familiar with. As for Ricky Velez, the New York Comedy Festival recently named him “New York’s Funniest,” and Comedy Central says he’s a “Comic To Watch.” Finally, Mike Yard was the winner of Comedy Central’s Get Up Stand Up competition, and he has appeared on Inside Amy Schumer. If you can get over the fact that none of them are Stephen Colbert, it certainly sounds like a solid group. They’ll most likely be making their first appearances when The Nightly Show premieres on January 19.
