As we dive headfirst into the dog days of summer—so named because dogs are the hottest animal, scientifically—it becomes increasingly important that we never go outside, for any conceivable reason. Luckily, there are now numerous libraries of online content—and more, every day!—out there to ward off the dreaded hell-ball we call the sun, with Hulu chiming in today to let us know what it’ll be offering up in August as respite for our heat-baked brains.
The answer to that question: Documentaries and ninjas, apparently. Hulu’s got two new docs on its August schedule, the skateboarding-focused Minding The Gap, in which filmmaker Bing Liu explores the connections between skating, rough upbringings, and “the complexities of modern-day masculinity,” and Stephen Maing’s Crime + Punishment, focused on police injustices in New York. And if that all seems too heavy for your breezy summer fun, well, the service is also tossing a couple of American Ninja movies up on the block, so that you can watch Michael Dudikoff and David Bradley katana the fuck out of an army of anonymous mooks two times over. Truly, Hulu, you contain multitudes.
