Nicole Kidman tiptoes through a tulip trap in Holland trailer

Even if no one is sewn into a bear suit or forced to commit Ättestupa (that we know of, at least), there’s something undeniably cult-like going on in Holland, Michigan. “Every day, I get to wake up in the best place on Earth,” Nicole Kidman’s character, Nancy, says at the beginning of Holland’s new trailer, an early warning that the underbelly of the clog-obsessed town is anything but. And right on cue: “It might seem like we have everything all together, but right under the surface, it’s like we’re being strangled.” Watch out Nancy, and definitely steer clear of any Mayday dances. (Even if Dutch dancing is the only form of dancing that isn’t “the devil.”)

When Holland isn’t in cult mode, it’s more reminiscent of fellow Florence Pugh film, Don’t Worry Darling. Nancy seems to play the perfect housewife to her husband (Matthew Macfadyen) against her will. He may even be keeping a clay voodoo-style doll of her in the basement? There’s a lot going on here, but it’s all par for the course for Fresh director Mimi Cave, whose tense, cannibalistic revenge film first premiered in 2022. Hopefully no one’s getting eaten in this one, but the trailer doesn’t give much reassurance that people aren’t getting eaten either. What’s in that brown mustard, anyway?

Holland also stars Jude Hill and Gael García Bernal. It premieres March 27 on Prime Video.
