Bluey creator to make something for the adult fans he amassed from children's show

For too long, parents and over-30s have had to couch their love for Bluey in excuses for watching children’s programming. There’s obviously nothing wrong with watching and enjoying the adventures of the Heeler family, but society, man, it puts people in boxes and tells them what they can and cannot enjoy. Thankfully, those empathetic TV writers down under know the struggle of being a Bluey parent who has watched so much Bluey they’ve adopted an Australian accent and keep telling their childless friends, “Naur, it’s actually good.” Per The Wrap, Bluey creator Joe Brumm is going to set things right with Deano, a new adult animated comedy for Hulu.

Executive produced by Brumm and created by fellow Aussies Dean Thomas and David Ferrier, and based on their webseries, Childish Deano, the upcoming Hulu series Deano enters little 8-year-old Deano’s octagon of madness. But though Deano can be a little stinker, he’s allegedly got a heart of gold. Growing up on the mean streets and attending the school of Hard Knocks, Deano doesn’t realize that the “chips are stacked against him and embraces everyone equally, from the local teenage dropouts to the town police chief,” the logline states. Deano is a “spicy child,” according to a statement from Thomas and Ferrier. His sidekick and best friend, Kit, a rich kid from the other side of town, however, doesn’t see the differences between himself and the open-hearted buddy next to him. It pains us to say this, but we’re going to need Deano to wake up and stop siding with his oppressors.

The eight-episode series will run as part of Disney’s animation domination on Hulu that includes a slew of Fox and former Fox programming, including Family Guy, American Dad, Bob’s Burgers, and King Of The Hill.
