According to Deadline, Hulu has decided to cancel Sarah Silverman’s talk show I Love You, America after one season—though that one season included 21 episodes and aired on Hulu over the course of two traditional TV seasons with a multi-month gap in the middle, so it was really two seasons. Silverman announced the news herself on Twitter, saying everyone is “pretty damn heartbroken” about the cancellation:
The Emmy-nominated series was based around the idea of breaking people in America out of their shell and introducing them to alternate viewpoints so they can hash things out, but with more of an emphasis on being positive and empathetic than on trying to convince people they’re wrong or stupid—except when people really need to be told they’re wrong or stupid. The series was also notable for dedicating a segment to Silverman addressing whether or not you can “love someone who did bad things” in regards to her longtime friendship with Louis CK, during which she concluded that “it’s vital that people are held accountable for their actions, no matter who they are.”
