President Snow gets the slow clap in the latest The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping trailer

The latest trailer for Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping brings us back, at least audibly, to the franchise’s Catching Fire heyday. “Nobody ever wins the Games, period,” Woody Harrelson’s Haymitch Abernathy says, his folksy drawl echoing through history in the trailer’s opening seconds. “There are survivors. There’s no winners.”

No doubt the tale of Abernathy’s rise, previously hinted at throughout Suzanne Collins’ books and their film adaptations and fully explored in the 2025 novel Sunrise On The Reaping, is one of survival. However, as this latest trailer for Francis Lawrence’s Sunrise On The Reaping shows us, not everything about Haymitch’s ascension into rebel legend is electric butterfly stings and brutal chariot races: We see a young Haymitch (Joseph Zada) drawn toward revolution by Wiress (Maya Hawke) and given sage counsel by Plutarch Heavensbee (Jesse Plemons), two intriguing Hunger Games figures who give Haymitch the gumption to stand before Ralph Fiennes’ President Snow and give him a mocking and very public slow clap. Truly, an iconic and splashy beginning.

The latest in the Lionsgate franchise releases on November 20. You can watch the new trailer below.
