Ivan Reitman now threatening to just remake Ghostbusters, if everyone's gonna be like that
Finding himself unable to lure Bill Murray back for a Ghostbusters sequel, despite the enticing pitch of "Okay, so you and everyone else are old and sad now….," director Ivan Reitman has adopted the revising strategy of so many a rejected artist and/or bratty child. He's just going to take his franchise-ball home, ripping it all up and starting over completely with an all-new Ghostbusters remake that will star all new Ghostbusters who won't have annoying hesitations or integrity. Or, at least, that's what it sounds like in this interview with Collider, where Reitman responds to the persistently nagging question of Ghostbusters 3 by saying, "Well, I’d like to go forward and make new things"—a declaration that is immediately followed by "I think Ghostbusters probably should be remade, if we can get it all right," as this is the closest the modern-day Ivan Reitman gets to sophisticated comic irony.
