2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, the debut album from JAŸ-Z (he’s taken to styling his name with the umlaut recently). He’s already spent a decent amount of the year celebrating and promoting his own legacy, selling out a few shows at Yankee Stadium last month. Now, a new series, JAŸ-Z In 8, is coming to HBO. This won’t see him performing so much as talking, specifically to producer Rick Rubin (who actually hasn’t worked with Jay all that much; they only created “99 Problems” together.) But together, the two will hold “an intimate reflection on his storied career, revisiting the music together and unpacking his work and life through a shared listening and illuminating conversation,” according to a plot synopsis from HBO.
