Building on comments he made in September, Keanu Reeves spilled a few more plot details on that Bill And Ted sequel that will finally reunite Reeves with Alex Winter, whose lifeforce he absorbed while the two were still in the acting womb. Once again, Reeves sat down with MTV’s Josh Horowitz—whose interviews with Reeves are fast becoming the Frost/Nixon of Bill And Ted sequel news—and told him that original writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon are still very involved with writing the script and that he’s expecting to see a draft within six weeks or so. He also acknowledges that the film would find Bill and Ted nearing their 50s, and shared this slight hint as to where the storyline would go: “When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn’t happened. […] So they’ve now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there’s an element of time and they have to go back.”
So apparently the tune that unites all of humanity was not, as Bogus Journey hinted, merely a reworking of the KISS/Argent classic “God Gave Rock ‘N’ Roll To You,” which is good to hear, as that was sort of bullshit. And there’s obviously still no word on how the script will deal with the death of George Carlin, but perhaps their baffling inability to write that one magical song creates yet another paradox that ultimately kills Rufus? Or, you know, maybe it doesn’t matter. On another note, has Keanu Reeves been taking Received Pronunciation lessons from Madonna or something?
