Larry Wilmore will take over for Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central
Comedy Central has announced via press release that Larry Wilmore will be taking over for Stephen Colbert after the latter leaves The Colbert Report to host The Late Show on CBS. The new show will be called The Minority Report With Larry Wilmore, which will be “a comedic look at news, current events and pop culture from unique perspectives not typically on display in late night television,” according to the release. Wilmore has been the “senior black correspondent” on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart since joining the show in 2006. Prior to that, he had a long career in TV writing, including stints on The Office, In Living Color, and The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air. He is the co-creator of The PJs and The Bernie Mac Show, the latter of which he won an Emmy for writing for. His new series Black-ish was just picked up by ABC.
