Let the shipping commence: Gilmore Girls’ return is now official
That giant “SQUEE” you just heard was Stars Hollow fans all over the globe raising their shipping voices in unison: Variety reports that Netflix has officially announced the return of Gilmore Girls. The resurgence of the popular series, which ran from 2000 to 2007, has been hinted at for a while now, with various cast members dropping hints and certain familiar sets popping up, but this is the first official decree from the steaming service. In even better news, (almost) all the OG Gilmores are back, including showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel Palladino (who left before the show’s final season), and the Girls themselves, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel. Also on board: Scott Patterson’s Luke, Keiko Agena’s Lane, Sean Gunn’s Kirk, and the sublime Kelly Bishop as matriarch Emily Gilmore. (Edward Herrmann, who played Emily’s husband and Lorelai’s father Richard, died in 2014.)
