It’s fitting that Krill’s would-be concept EP Steve Hears Pile In Maiden And Bursts Into Tears fails at telling the story it set out to elucidate. After all, Krill’s charm lies in its lackadaisical nature.
On its latest EP Krill attempted to write a concept record about guy named Steve hearing a Pile song and realizing that he lives inside the song’s universe. Steve hopes to form a band and play a show with Pile, but he can’t get the necessary musicians together to make such a modest dream a reality. Much like Steve, Krill couldn’t quite see the concept to fruition, but that didn’t keep the band from turning in a series of slacker anthems in the process.
