Last week's Grammy nominations weren't exactly surprising, but at least one cool, left-field nominee squeaked through: cartoonist Craig Thompson, the man responsible for the crazy, interactive cover art for Menomena's sweet 2007 album Friend And Foe. Nominated in the Best Recording Package category, Thompson remains better known for Blankets, his award-winning, autobiographical graphic novel. Thompson has also done live painting onstage behind Menomena during some of the band's shows this year:
