Though METZ’s self-titled debut came out in 2012, the Canadian band kinda owned 2013. When they came through Chicago for Pitchfork Fest, we wrangled them into doing a Damned cover for our Summer Undercover series at Parson’s Chicken & Fish. Since they were already there and the chicken was flowing, we asked them to play us a song of their own as well, so here’s “Dirty Shirt.” And we needed a place to put it, so we’ve decided that METZ is one of the best live bands of 2013, hence the “best of” designation.
