Neil Marshall’s Hellboy reboot, Rise Of The Blood Queen, has found its sanguinary monarch, with Deadline reporting that The Fifth Element and Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich is in final talks to join the film as its main villain. Jovovich will play opposite David Harbour as Hellboy himself, and Ian McShane as his father figure/mentor, Professor Broom (Bruttenholm in the original comics).
Plot details about the reboot are being kept quiet, but it’s worth noting that, in the Hellboy comics, the Blood Queen is a major antagonist for Hellboy, being the villain who’s primarily responsible for his relocation to the afterlife in Hellboy In Hell. And it’s not like Jovovich isn’t one of Hollywood’s most experienced cinematic demon hunters, even if her usual prey aren’t quite so gruffly good-natured as ol’ Big Red.
