Just a few days after the Miss Scarletfifth season finale, Masterpiece PBS is putting fans’ minds at ease by renewing the series for a sixth season. Kate Phillips will return as the titular detective alongside Tom Durant-Pritchard as her collaborator-slash-probable-love-interest, Detective Inspector Alexander Blake. It seems the departure of The Duke (Stuart Martin) couldn’t slow down the momentum of this intrepid investigator.
Masterpiece offered a synopsis of the upcoming sixth season (which begins filming this month in Belgrade, Serbia): “As Eliza and Blake’s once-fraught relationship begins to evolve, they find that working together may be a tricky prospect. Meanwhile, newlyweds Ivy (Cathy Belton) and Potts (Simon Ludders) adjust to married life, a new detective settles in at Scotland Yard, and Nash (Felix Scott) causes chaos, even from across the globe. Joining this season’s adventures in his greatly anticipated return is Moses Valentine (Ansu Kabia), who swoops in to help Eliza and her crew, just when they need him most.” New cast members include “Sam Buchanan as the new, young Detective George Willows who joins Scotland Yard after rising through the police ranks and Grace Hogg-Robinson as Isabel Summers, an ambitious young woman who joins the Clerical Office alongside Ivy.”
“Season six brings exciting twists, new faces, and the return of beloved characters—including the much-anticipated comeback of Moses Valentine,” Miss Scarlet executive producer Patty Lenahan Ishimoto said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to continue Eliza Scarlet’s journey and deeply grateful to MASTERPIECE PBS and UKTV for their unwavering support in bringing the series to our dedicated fans.”
