Movie version of Guinness Book Of World Records aims to become world's most overtly name recognition-based film

In an effort to wrest the record for "Most Strained Relation Of A Movie Narrative To A Work Of Non-Fiction" away from What To Expect When You're Expecting, Warner Bros. has revealed plans to craft an action-adventure film out of The Guinness Book Of World Records, the compendium of ridiculously specific statistics and uniquely gross people that has long prevented beer-fueled arguments from erupting into fistfights, or at least delayed them. The Office writer Danny Chun—well-versed in both wringing entertainment from the mundane and then padding it out beyond all reason—has been hired to figure out that narrative, which Deadline says will attempt to "blow out the accomplishments of record-setters and turn it into an action movie with global appeal," perhaps through, say, the addition of Will Smith or a series of sombreros, berets, and other regional hats. And so the short-lived age of board-game movies begins to draw to a close and the age of branded reference books dawns.
