NBC executives gathered around the campfire one last time to exchange friendship lanyards, share their favorite summer memories, and cancel their summer series Camp. Actor Nikolai Nikolaeff announced the cancellation via Twitter, saying, “So… It was a great summer and I loved every minute of it. Sorry to all the @NBCCamp fans out there but no go on #CampSeason2. #upsetting.”
Despite the relatable setting of an all-ages family camp—where both parents and their teenage children can share the joys of awkward summer hook-ups—the Australian-produced series failed to find much ratings success. On the bright side, summer campers everywhere now have a new verse to their favorite campfire song: “I said a boom chicka rocka chicka Camp-was-cancelled boom!”
