Who she is: Negasonic Teenage Warhead
Her power: She can emit huge explosions from her body, and she can channel those explosions into devastating charge attacks or to send herself rocketing through the air.
Her story: If you asked her, she’d probably say it’s none of your business and punch you in the gut. She fills the angsty teenager role in Deadpool’s lineup of archetypes and joins her teacher Colossus to recruit Deadpool to the X-Men before the mercenary drafts them into his war against the villainous Ajax. She’s the butt of Deadpool’s jokes for much of the movie (he loves commenting on her appearance), but she proves her worth in battle, both as an explosive weapon and as a sullen foil to the wacky antihero. Her backstory doesn’t get much attention, but she has the distinction of being the first major modern-day mutant student to debut after X-Men: Days Of Future Past changed the XMU timeline. Like most angsty teenagers, Negasonic Teenage Warhead tries to act like she’s above it all, but by the end of the film, it’s clear that she gets a kick out of being a badass superhero.
