Neil deGrasse Tyson has a heavy burden. Whether he’s hosting shows like Nova and Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey or appearing on the The Daily Show, deGrasse Tyson endeavors to keep science in our collective cultural discussion. Part of that job means he can’t just enjoy science fiction like regular people; he has to apply some rigor to it, like when he famously performed an astronomical takedown of Gravity on Twitter. While reviewers like The A.V. Club’s A.A. Dowd praised an immersive and visually stunning experience, deGrasse Tyson was pulled out of the moment by what turns out to be a laundry list of scientific inaccuracies.

And now America’s favorite nitpicking astrophysicist is back, applying his signature attention to detail to Interstellar in under 140 characters. Perhaps sensing that bashing science fiction films too hard might drive people to movies (or jobs) that don’t figure science so prominently, deGrasse Tyson has a more measured take on Interstellar. Or maybe he just really liked it (like he liked Deep Impact). For instance, he observes that the gender gap has been closed for careers in science, even if we’ve polluted the Earth to a near-uninhabitable state.
