Neil Flynn is headed back to NBC
Deadline reports that actor Neil Flynn, who’ll soon be wrapping up his nine-year tenure on ABC’s long-running family sitcom The Middle, is about to make his way back to his old home at NBC. Flynn—who starred for several years as the taciturn, ambiguously evil Janitor on NBC’s Scrubs—has signed on to co-star in Michael Schur’s new comedy pilot for the network, Abby’s.
Starring opposite Natalie Morales’ title character, Flynn sounds like he’ll be playing the resident Norm-type at her unlicensed backyard bar, a “a fixture” who’s “grateful for a place to relax, unwind, and have a beer every night.”
If the series gets picked up to series, it’ll extend Flynn’s run as one of the most consistently successful comedy actors of the modern TV world; between Scrubs and The Middle, he’s had a primetime series on the air since 2001.
