Netflix picks up Canadian series with Jason Momoa as a fur trapper
Discovery Canada is developing its first original scripted series, and has tapped Jason Momoa to lead it through virgin (for the network) territory. According to Deadline, the cable network’s Great White Northern arm is producing Frontier, an adventure drama featuring the Game Of Thrones alum as a fur trapper. Netflix has already acquired the rights to the six-hour series, which will center on “the chaotic and violent struggle to control wealth and power in the North American fur trade in the late 18th century.” As Momoa’s other current projects will see him ruling the seas (or at least, schools of fish) and secluded parts of the Pacific Northwest, we doubt that taming the Canadian wilderness will present too much difficulty for him.
