We read in December that ABC was building a new series around Philip Marlowe, the detective Raymond Chandler created for his dark, smart-assed crime novels. Irish actor Jason O'Mara is close to grabbing the role, according to Hollywood Reporter's roundup of casting for the 2007-08 TV season. In a season that's already more cloyed with law enforcement than an IMF protest, it might be hard to keep this interesting. Just hope they don't turn Phil into another Horatio.
