New York Post: We're sorry, Vince, please don't sue

Useful information for everyone: If a newspaper gets you in trouble with your girlfriend, threatening to sue them does sometimes work. The New York Post today printed a public apology to Vince Vaughn for claiming he'd been seen making out with some blonde. "We're advised Vaughn was merely greeting a friend at the event and not kissing her "passionately." Any suggestion that the actor was being unfaithful to [Jennifer] Aniston is totally false."

Of course, the apology also pointedly passes the buck off to The London Sun, where the gossip originated; Vaughn has threatened to file a libel suit against the Sun as well. No word yet on whether the Sun also plans a retraction; their front page carries a story about another big breakup: Stephen Hawking and his wife are getting divorced. Word is that he's in love with someone else. Probably not Vaughn.
