It’s time to start pricing out storage units. True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto has revealed a few new details about the show’s second season, forming a trail of cryptic clues single-minded fans can obsessively follow at the expense of their relationships, careers, personal hygiene, and overall mental health. Pizzolatto appeared on Wisconsin Public Radio’s To The Best Of Our Knowledge Sunday for an interview full of such Cohle-isms as “in True Detective, the world itself is the crime.” In between dropping metaphysical truth bombs, Pizzolatto takes a moment to talk #TrueDetectiveSeason2; he claims that casting hasn’t started yet, leaving that topic wide open for speculation (although Jessica Chastain can be crossed off the list). However, he does elaborate—sort of—on his previous description of season two of True Detective as “hard women, bad men, and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.” Here’s the full quote, if anyone wants to perform cryptographical analysis on it:

“Right now, we’re working with three leads. It takes place in California. Not Los Angeles, but some of the lesser known venues of California and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambience of the place, much like we did with season one. The characters are all new, but I am deeply in love with all of them.”

OK. California is the Golden State. Gold is stored in Fort Knox. Fort Knox is in Kentucky. Michael Shannon grew up in Lexington, Kentucky. Michael Shannon is on Boardwalk Empire, which was created by Terence Winter. Terence Winter wrote the screenplay for The Wolf of Wall Street. Jonah Hill was nominated for an Oscar for The Wolf of Wall Street, his second Oscar nomination. The first was for Moneyball, which co-starred Brad Pitt, who is rumored to be up for a role in True Detective season two. Coincidence??
