Nicole Kidman wishes Denis Villeneuve had asked her to be in a Dune

Soon, the topic of their careers came up, with one question focused on which film project the pair would love to work on next. Bullock expressed a desire to reunite with Two Weeks Notice co-star Hugh Grant, possibly for a sequel (“Somebody take that and run with it now!” Kidman says), while Kidman expressed bewilderment at never having worked with Villeneuve on one of his huge Dune projects. “I’m a ‘Dunie’. I’m obsessed,” the actor said. 

When Bullock asked her co-star why such a pairing hadn’t occurred, given that Villeneuve has directed two Dune films with a third on the way, Kidman whispered into her cards in that kidding-but-kinda-not drama-kid sort of way, shaking her head. “Denis never asked me to be in it, I think. It’s devastating,” she said, as Bullock looked to the camera to mouth “Asshole! Asshole! Call her now!” in support of her Practical Magic 2 co-star. But Kidman is already totally over her Dune regret. “I actually don’t want to be in it because I just want to watch them,” Kidman said, to which Bullock replied, “You wouldn’t like the sand.” (Kidman actually likes the sand, just not, you know, blowing in her face.)

As for Kidman’s future Dune prospects, if she hasn’t already read up on the books, someone should send her a stack of the many works that follow Dune Messiah (the basis for Dune: Part Three) just to see if she’d be willing to match the series’ freak. She did star in The Paperboy, so we think she’d probably be up for it if Villeneuve was.
