E3: Nintendo Announces New Metroid and Pokémon Games, Details Super Mario Odyssey and More
Nintendo’s E3 presentation this morning revealed that many new games will be arriving to the Switch and 3DS in the near future. Take a look at all of the games from Nintendo’s conference below as well as some trailers.
Super Mario Odyssey
This might be the biggest game coming to the Switch this year. It is a return to the classic 3D Mario form, similar to Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. It was also unveiled that Mario can now possess certain enemies and objects and inherit their powers. Super Mario Odyssey will come to the Switch on Oct. 27.
Metroid: Samus Returns
The 3DS remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus showcases the core 2D action of the Metroid series with updated visuals and mechanics. Metroid: Samus Returns will be available on the 3DS on Sept. 15.
Metroid Prime 4
Metroid Prime 3 was released on the Wii all the way back in 2007, and Nintendo has finally announced the game’s follow-up. We have no idea what to expect yet, though, as nothing was shown besides a logo. Metroid Prime 4 is currently in development for the Switch.
Sonic Forces
The forthcoming Sonic title is being developed by the same team that developed Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations. Players will switch between controlling modern Sonic, classic Sonic and their own customizable avatar. Sonic Forces is set to release for the Switch around this holiday season.
