The sight of Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Brody) cuddled up on the couch in the Nobody Wants This set photo will be a familiar one to those who binged the first season of the odd couple romance. But there will be new faces involved in the series as well. Brody’s wife Leighton Meester was recently cast as Abby, “Joanne’s nemesis from middle school who is now an Instagram mommy influencer,” per Netflix. Miles Fowler (Bottoms) was cast as one of Noah’s teammates on the Matzah Ballers who gets set up with Joanne’s sister Morgan (Justine Lupe). Lupe’s Succession co-star Arian Moayed will play another of her potential love interests as “Dr. Andy, a charming, highly regarded (particularly by himself) psychotherapist who might just be [her] perfect match.” And Alex Karpovsky (Girls) has signed on to play “Big Noah,” who is “An overly confident rabbi at Noah’s temple.”
Karpovsky’s Girls bosses Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan have also joined the show to serve as co-showrunners for the second season. They take over the role from Craig DiGregorio and Erin Foster, who created the series based on her own life experiences. (She will remain part of the show as a writer and EP.) “Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me,” Foster said in a statement at the time of the show’s renewal. “The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls… Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!” You can check out the Nobody Wants This set photo below.
