Outkast reunites at Big Boi's son's graduation, and André 3000 releases Mother's Day songs

It finally happened: Outkast is back together, doing what they do best. No, they’re not putting out groundbreaking hip-hop albums, they’re just being good friends who clearly care about and support each other. In the end, isn’t that the most important thing? Anyway, Big Boi and André 3000 reunited this weekend at Big Boi’s son’s graduation from the Woodward Academy in Georgia. They even shared a photo on Twitter, with Big Boi—born Antwan André Patton—proudly noting his son Bamboo “got that paperwork.” (You may remember Bamboo from that line in “B.O.B.” about him being “on the way.”)

On the other hand, if you do care about music more than these two guys still being friends (you monster), André has released a pair of new songs in honor of Mother’s Day along with handwritten notes and a photo of him and his mom. On Instagram, he posted that he’s sure “all the cards, dinners, flowers, and last-minute gifts are appreciated but I’ve learned the best gift a parent could get is to simply know their child is ok.” One song is “Me & My (To Bury Your Parents),” a sad little ballad with André singing about his mother and father, and the other, “Look Ma No Hands,” is a long, jazzy tune with James Blake on piano and André on clarinet.

It’s all very touching, even if it’s not another groundbreaking hip-hop album.
