Parker Posey to bring the scares in Blumhouse Atomic Monster horror Sleepover

“Queen Of The Indies” Parker Posey may be looking to trade her title for “Scream Queen” with her latest project. Variety reports that Posey is set to star in Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Universal Pictures’ upcoming horror film Sleepover. Insidious: Out Of The Further filmmaker Jacob Chase will be directing the film, which is based on Bryce McGuire’s original short story. The Sleepover film adaptation is co-written by McGuire and Chase. Jason Blum will produce, while Chase, McGuire, and Bea Sequeira will serve as executive producers.  Other details about Sleepover are unknown, but Variety previously described the film as a “quintessential sleepover nightmare.” It’s currently set for release on October 8, 2027.

Chase previously wrote and directed the 2020 horror thriller Come Play and the 2026 scary movie Insidious: Out Of The Further, which The A.V. Club‘s Jesse Hassenger called “a robust reconstitution” of the franchise formula with impressive horror set pieces. Parker, whose career kicked off with indie films, has dabbled in horror, with roles in movies like Scream 3, Blade: Trinity, and Beau Is Afraid. Most recently, Posey’s performance as a rich Southerner who pops Lorazepam like it’s candy in season three of The White Lotus earned her an Emmy nomination.  Between Sleepover and Curry Barker’s Anything But Ghosts, Blumhouse Atomic Monster already seems to be plotting its scares for next year.
