Pete Davidson to get his own Judd Apatow-directed semi-autobiographical comedy

Pete Davidson sure is having a moment, huh? His brief engagement to Ariana Grande coincided with her own leap into a new level of pop-stardom, bringing Davidson along for the ride and essentially taking him from weird Saturday Night Live guy who just plays himself to legitimate comedy star overnight. Since then, he called out Chevy Chase for being a miserable dick, broke up with Grande, scared everyone with a worrying social media post, and then returned to the public eye refreshed and ready to continue on with his life.

Now it looks like Davidson’s big break is just going to continue, with Judd Apatow signing on to help turn him into a proper movie star with his own Trainwreck-style star-making comedy movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the untitled movie will be partially based on Davidson’s real life, with Apatow directing from a script that he co-wrote with Davidson and Dave Sirus. This comes as Davidson is getting positive reviews for his appearance in Big Time Adolescence, which premiered yesterday at Sundance, so even if it weren’t already the perfect time for him to land his own movie, it would be the perfect time for him to land his own movie.

We just hope Apatow has truly learned his lesson and doesn’t make this Pete Davidson movie nine hours long like Funny People was.
