Porky's actor Wyatt Knight commits suicide
Actor Wyatt Knight, best known for playing bad boy Tommy Turner in all three Porky’s films, was found dead in Maui last week, according to TMZ. In a subsequent report, Knight's wife confirmed that he committed suicide, in her words, to end the "physical and emotional pain" lingering from intense cancer treatments. He was 56.
Knight had a bit part on The Waltons as well as the TV movie Murder In Texas (playing the similarly alliterative Tommy Thompson) before landing the role of the prankster of the Porky’s gang. As the brash ringleader of a group of six horny high school boys, Knight delivered some of the film’s crudest dialogue and was also the center of one of its most memorable scenes—sticking his penis through a peephole into the girls’ locker room, only to have it grabbed and mauled by Nancy Parsons’ sadistic gym teacher.
Knight would reprise the Tommy role twice more in the sequels Porky’s II: The Next Day and Porky’s Revenge!, while also finding steady work with small parts on television. Over the years he turned up on Family Ties, T.J Hooker, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Renegade, Profiler, and Chicago Hope, among others. His last acting role was on the web comedy series Crafty in 2010.
