Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert 2 "probably" two years away

We actually have AI to thank for the sequel coming together, but not to bolster some lie about cheaper, more efficient movie productions. Rather, it’s because late star Terrence Stamp, who played Bernadette Bassenger in the original, didn’t want some “digital clone” taking his role. Instead, director Stephen Elliott pre-shot “all of the Bernadette scenes” with Stamp, who “wasn’t getting any younger[…]a fact he loved to shove down our throats almost every day.” Elliott says that “when the AI wars broke out”—which somehow isn’t a line from a science fiction novel—Stamp was “indignant that he didn’t want a digital clone of himself playing Bernadette.” Apparently, the actor wanted a chance to “put the character down himself, and I will quote him in this case, ‘Just in case I don’t make the start line.'” Stamp died just over a year ago this month at the age of 87.
