R.I.P. Isis
One of the most noteworthy bands in heavy music over the past dozen years has called it a day: In a lengthy post on its blog today, Isis announced that it has "reached an end":
This end isn't something that occurred over night and it hasn't been brought about by a single cataclysmic fracture in the band. Simply put, ISIS has done everything we wanted to do, said everything we wanted to say. In the interest of preserving the love we have of this band, for each other, for the music made and for all the people who have continually supported us it is time to bring it to a close.
The band's last album was 2009's Wavering Radiant, one of a string of records it did for indie label Ipecac. Its final tour begins May 26 in San Diego and ends June 23 Montreal, site of Isis' first show in 1997. The group will also wrap up a new EP and compile "live audio and visual material for future releases."
