“Rowdy” Roddy Piper’s last film, the faith-based Masked Saint, will be released next year
As reported by Deadline, film distributor Freestyle Releasing has picked up the rights to The Masked Saint, a faith-based movie starring the late “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, who died last week from a heart attack. That means The Masked Saint is being billed—unofficially, of course, because it’d be gruesome otherwise—as his last film role, which will probably make it a little more interesting to fans of They Live than it would be otherwise. Weirdly, though, the movie also sounds kind of interesting on its own: Inspired by a “true-life story,” The Masked Saint is about a retired professional wrestler who starts working as a pastor in a small town, and also he’s secretly a masked vigilante. He then—seriously—has to juggle his life as a former wrestler who is now a pastor and his life as a crimefighter.
