“Ron Weasley has been a part of me since I was 11 years old and I can’t wait to meet him again in this stage of life,” says Grint in a press release. “There is something so full-circle and so special about stepping back into Ron’s shoes now when we are both fathers; it is somehow both very familiar and completely new. And the joy of being back on Broadway, this time in a role that defined so much of my life is truly exciting.”
Harry Potter And The Cursed Child focuses mostly on the children of the characters from the original stories and, other than Harry himself, most of the adult characters have pretty limited stage time. But Grint isn’t the first original cast member to join the play; Tom Felton, who portrayed Draco Malfoy in the films, has performed off and on in Cursed Child since November 2025, extending his run multiple times. The play has credited his participation as a major factor in its current success; since he joined, the play has “consistently held the #1 spot on the Broadway grosses,” according to a press release from April. Felton isn’t scheduled to overlap with Grint (though he wouldn’t be surprised to see him extend his stay at Hogwarts yet again), so the Ron actor’s inclusion in the show will likely be an even bigger boon to the play. Back in 2022, Grint described his relationship with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling as “tricky,” likening her to an “auntie” that he doesn’t completely agree with but is still willing to line the pockets of.
