Sam Worthington, Cara Delevingne to get sexy for Paul Schrader in Non Compos Mentis

First Reformed director Paul Schrader is getting busy on his new erotic thriller, Non Compos Mentis, which has overhauled its cast. Previously, Liam Hemsworth, Caleb Landry Jones, and Sarah Pidgeon were set as the film’s “volatile love triangle,” but (per Deadline) Schrader has now tapped Sam Worthington to join Hemsworth as the film’s upper-crust brothers, with Cara Delevingne as the focal point of their fraught desires. Schrader is set to start his New York production in October and is still filling out the rest of his cast, which once included Dianne Wiest. No reason was provided for Landry Jones’ recasting in the report, though Playlist notes that Pidgeon had dropped out of the project.

Non Compos Mentis—or “not of sound mind” for those of us who were reading Jughead comics instead of paying attention during high school Latin—will follow two brothers, a New York defense attorney and  a “hard-edged” corporate heir, who “[confront] their mother’s decline into dementia.” Which brother Hemsworth and Worthington will each play has not been disclosed, but we feel it could go either way, really. In its description of the film’s plot, Deadline says the brothers’ “uneasy dynamic” is tested when “the attorney embarks on a consuming affair with a younger woman,” which, as these things so often do in erotic thrillers, “[ignites] a volatile love triangle that unleashes obsession, betrayal, and a ruthless battle for control of the family fortune.”
