Case closed as Scooby-Doo: Origins wraps production

So what’s one more, as Netflix has announced that production has wrapped on the first season of its own Scooby-centric ongoing series, the ominously titled, Scooby-Doo: Origins. The hybrid live-action/CGI, eight-episode series will feature—you guessed it—the origin story of how Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, and Fred all stumbled upon their first mystery—which may have been witnessed by a certain Great Dane puppy. 

While longtime voice acting legend and original Scooby performer Frank Welker will once more reprise his role putting barely comprehensible gibberish and terrified tooth-chattering into the mouth of the series’ unnervingly realistic-looking dog, Scoob’s young, pre-Mystery Machine humans are played by Mckenna Grace as Daphne, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, and Maxwell Jenkins as the long-running franchise’s infamously square leader, Fred. (Described euphemistically by Netflix as, “the strange, but ever so handsome new kid.”)

Other announced cast members include Paul Walter Hauser (as Scooby’s no-doubt sketchy original owner), Rusty Schwimmer, Peter Macon, Jona Xiao, Dani Deetté, Elysée Sanvillé, Alex Isles, Avery Kristen Pohl, Pamela Mitchell, Ross Kimball, Sara Gilbert, Wynn Everett, Sauriyan Sapkota, Bruce McGill, Cathy Moriarity, and André Benjamin. It is currently unknown which guest stars, if any, will be revealed as a fake g-g-ghost bedeviling a haunted amusement park.
