Shakira forced to cancel another tour date

Shakira may be an adept knife dancer but won’t tempt fate with a dangerous stage. Per Billboard, Shakira has been forced to cancel yet another date on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour. One week after canceling a show in Lima, Peru, Shakira has postponed her Medellín, Colombia, concert scheduled for Monday, February 24, with the concert’s promoters citing safety concerns. The event organizers, Páramo Presenta, canceled the concert because of apparent damage to the roof of the stage and said they were working with Shakira’s people to bring Shakira back to Colombia later this year, presumably quelling a national uprising that we just can’t handle right now.

As is her style, Shakira published a blue and white apology note on social media, an aesthetic that is quickly becoming her go-to for breaking bad news to her fans. “My people from Medellín! It hurts me a lot not to be able to get on stage and sing for you as much as I wanted to,” she wrote on X (translated by Billboard). “My children were excited to get to know Medellín, and I was excited to meet you again and share all the surprises I had prepared for them. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, especially for those who have traveled. It’s out of my hands and those of my production team, but I’m sure we’ll soon find a new date to celebrate together.” Don’t worry, Shakira’s children. You’ll have a chance to visit Medellín soon enough.

One week ago today, Shakira canceled a tour date in Lima because she was hospitalized due to an abdominal issue. She was back on stage only a day later. This won’t be the last Colombia sees of Shakira, and that’s the deal, my dear.
