Stephen Colbert to keep his ratings streak going with clever approach to repeats
Stephen Colbert’s Late Show has been on a ratings tear for a while now, so with a pair of repeat episodes on the schedule for this week, the show has decided do something unique to convince people to tune in anyway. The episodes will air on Thursday and Friday, and instead of being traditional repeats of previously aired episodes, they will be “hybrid” shows that combine new content with “encore” clips.
This comes from Deadline, which says the episodes will have “new cold opens and Colbert monologues,” along with “some new guest interviews.” That stuff will be paired with older interviews to pad out the rest of the show without requiring Colbert or his crew to do too much work. Thursday’s episode will have repeats of interviews with Jessica Lange, Bassem Youssef, and Judy Gold from March, while Friday’s episode will have a repeat interview with Jerrod Carmichael and new interviews with Mandy Patinkin and Zosia Mamet.
