Straight Outta Compton has a softer side when its trailer is set to a Ben Folds tune

Straight Outta Compton was a hit this summer, drawing in crowds interested in learning about the rise and fall of one of rap’s most prolific acts. Perhaps the film would’ve received even more attention and a bigger audience if it had gone with this version of the trailer, in which Ben Folds covers Dr. Dre’s “Bitches Ain’t Shit.” By using the Folds version, the hard tale of gangsta rappers who refused to back down becomes more of a wistful look back at a more innocent time. It’s like Stand By Me but with AKs and booty-shaking.
