As reported by Variety, filmmaker Tara Wood has begun production on 21 Years: Quentin Tarantino, a sequel of sorts to 2014’s 21 Years: Richard Linklater. Wood was a co-director on that film, which followed Linklater’s movies up to the critically acclaimed Boyhood, which was still being completed while the documentary was being made. Both the Linklater documentary and this Tarantino version are based around the idea that a director is defined by the first 21 years of their career, an idea that could also be applied to the lives of most people.
In a statement, Wood refers to Tarantino as “the most revolutionary, distinctive director of our time,” adding that “there is no shortage of stories from his collaborators about what it takes to get his visionary style to the screen.” To that end, this documentary will feature inverviews with Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta, Christoph Waltz, Zoë Bell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jamie Foxx, Eli Roth, Michael Madsen, and Kerry Washington. It probably won’t feature any interviews with police officers, as they’re probably still mad at Tarantino, but it will be interesting to see if Wood decides to cover that particular controversy.
