Rose Byrne wields a blunt object in trailer for Peacock's The Good Daughter

A sister with a job in the major city returning to her rural, Southern hometown amid some kind of murder involving a teenage girl? Close enough—welcome back, Sharp Objects. We kid, we kid, but we can’t be the only ones getting a bit of that vibe from the first trailer for The Good Daughter, which Peacock shares today. Of course, there are plenty of distinguishing features in this one—Rose Byrne’s cityslicker has a sister closer to her own age, played by The White Lotus‘ Meghann Fahy, and Patricia Clarkson’s caustic matriarch is instead a bed-ridden patriarch played by Brendan Gleeson—but we wouldn’t be surprised if these two shows end up with a few more similarities.

The Good Daughter is based on a novel of the same name by Karin Slaughter (who also wrote Will Trent), the series follows Charlotte (Fahy) and Samantha (Byrne), who “have spent the last 20 years trying to piece together the lives that were fractured by a single night of violence,” according to a plot synopsis. “When another attack splinters the small town of Pikeville, Charlotte – now a lawyer like her father – is the first witness on the scene. As the case unfolds and twists through painful memories and buried secrets, what emerges is not just a story of survival, but of enduring ties between a father and his daughters, and the complex bond between sisters.”

The series also stars Olivia Williams and Harper Steele. All six episodes of The Good Daughter hit Peacock on November 12.
